Why The Stitch Edit

Three clients. Three rescues.

I

Body-change wardrobe rescue

A jacket three specialists called beyond repair, reconstructed seam by seam. The pieces that no longer fitted, recut until they felt made for her.

II

Designer wardrobe rescue

Twelve designer pieces from Prada and YSL, most with bagged hems reset. A refreshed wardrobe, as she put it, without buying anything new.

III

At-home alterations concierge

Six pieces became a few more once the rail was out. Shorts curve-hemmed until she finally loved wearing them, with nothing decided under pressure.

She takes the time to explain the thinking behind each change — she even reimagines formal pieces into more wearable fits, so you get more wear from them.

The Philosophy

Your wardrobe deserves
more than a tailor.

It deserves an editor.

An edit considers the whole wardrobe: what should fit closer, what should work harder, what could become something else entirely. The same hands behind Stitch & Steam, with the time set aside for you alone. The rest is between us.

Every visit feels like a curated experience — thoughtful, personal, and done with genuine care.

I

She didn’t just alter clothing — she transformed it.

Ten pieces: corrective re-alterations, post-surgery refits, and a jacket others called beyond repairThe Edit

Working with her was completely different from a typical alterations experience. Instead of simply making clothes smaller or shorter, she looked at every piece in my wardrobe with a designer’s eye. She came to my home, spent time understanding my style and how my body had changed after my breast reduction, and immediately saw possibilities in pieces I had nearly given up on.

What surprised me most was her creativity. She could look at an outdated dress and envision it as a beautiful skirt, or take a top that no longer fit correctly and completely rework it so it felt custom-made for me. She didn’t just alter clothing — she transformed it.

The experience completely changed how I look at my wardrobe. Instead of seeing clothes that no longer fit or pieces that felt outdated, I started seeing potential. She helped me realize that many items I thought I needed to replace could be reinvented into something even better.

The transformed pieces felt like brand-new additions to my closet. They fit beautifully, were tailored specifically to my body, and felt more “me” than they ever had before. One of the most impressive examples was a jacket that several other alteration specialists told me was beyond repair. She painstakingly reconstructed and repaired every seam, bringing it back to life when everyone else said it couldn’t be done.

She is incredibly knowledgeable, exceptionally skilled, and remarkably creative. Her talent goes far beyond alterations — she has a true gift for reimagining clothing and helping people fall in love with their wardrobes again. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Lisa, I am lost for words. I’m just so happy and grateful reading this. It makes me have no regrets doing this — and wanting to continue, and do it better. I am truly thankful to have met you.

Stitch & Steam began in my own home, with a belief I still hold. The clothes you already love can fit you beautifully again; they only want a careful eye and an honest opinion. The Stitch Edit is that belief given its full measure: an unhurried conversation before a needle is ever threaded, and the discretion of working one-to-one, where you live. What I love most is the moment a piece goes back on, and it finally feels like yours.

Perfectly done — you can’t even tell they’ve been altered, they’re hidden so well. I feel assured knowing my pieces are in good hands.

The Edit

The finest work is invisible.
The transformation is not.

Practicalities

Before you write.

  1. 01What is The Stitch Edit?It is a private session in your own home where each piece is tried on, considered, and either refined or reimagined. An inch taken in, a strap added, a dress recut as a skirt. Not a standard alterations visit, but a slower, more editorial look at the wardrobe as a whole.
  2. 02How much does The Stitch Edit cost?A minimum S$500 alteration order applies to each home visit. Private consultation, fitting and transport are included.
  3. 03Is S$500 a consultation fee?No. S$500 is the minimum value of alteration work for each home visit.
  4. 04How many pieces should I prepare for The Stitch Edit? The Stitch Edit is designed for multiple garments rather than a single piece. There is no fixed number, though most sessions cover anywhere from six to a dozen items. Gather what you have been meaning to revisit, and we will work through it together.
  5. 05Do you work with designer or occasion wear?Yes. Designer garments and occasion wear are among the pieces we are most often asked to look at, alongside clothes with particular personal meaning. Their construction is often more intricate, and we give it the time and care it demands.
