Terms and conditions of service

1. application

These Terms and Conditions of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of services provided by Stitch and Steam Pte Ltd (“Stitch and Steam”). By handing over your garment(s), item(s), or placing an order, you accept and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must reject our services at the time of handover.

2. Scope of Services

We offer:

Any other services we offer from time to time (collectively, the “Services”).

  • Alteration Services
  • Dry-cleaning Services
  • Any other services we offer from time to time (collectively, the “Services”).

3. Care, Handling & Measurements

For all services, we will exercise reasonable care using methods suited to the fabric type, condition, and nature of your item(s). For alterations, measurements provided by you or taken by us at first fitting shall be deemed accurate. Any subsequent changes may incur additional charges. Manual measurement tolerance of up to 1 cm applies. We will recycle or dispose cut fabric unless otherwise instructed. Any retention must be requested at handover.

4. Article Count & Accessories

You are responsible for confirming the number of items upon handover. Stitch and Steam’s count will be final if not confirmed by you.

You are to empty all pockets and remove any personal items, valuables, ornaments, special buttons, loose and/or detachable accessories (i.e. including but not limited to detachable trimmings, buckles, beads, buttons, belts, shoulder pads, sequins, straps, lock(s), key(s), jewellery, cufflinks, and charms) before handing over the article(s) to us. We shall not be held liable for any loss or damage of such personal items, valuables, ornaments, special buttons, loose and/or detachable accessories, or any damage caused to the article(s) resulting from the your failure to remove such ornaments, special buttons, loose and/or detachable accessories.

5. Charges & Payment

Service fees are as per the latest price list. Payment is due in full at handover of unaltered or uncleaned articles(s) to us. We will not be obliged to perform the Services if full payment in not received from you.

6. Collection

Items must be collected within 30 days from the date you receive the “Your clothes are ready for collection/delivery!” email. Uncollected items may be disposed of without liability. You are responsible for checking / inspecting all articles at the time of collection. Any issues with the article(s) must be made known to us within 1 day from the date of collection. We are not obliged to consider any complaint(s) in respect of the articles that are made after 1 day from the date of collection.

7. Pick-up and Delivery

Doorstep Pick-up and Delivery services to addresses within our delivery zone are available. Free doorstep delivery are eligible to all HDB estates only. Condominiums and landed apartments will be charged a $2.80 pick-up or delivery fee each.

To use our doorstep pick-up or delivery service:

For alterations: please inform our staff and provide us your full address upon handing over your article(s). For dry cleaning, clearly indicate your address when submitting your order through our website. Pick-ups and deliveries will take place between Friday to Monday between 10 – 6pm (no deliveries on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Public Holidays). If you are not at home to receive your delivery, we will leave them at your doorstep. You are responsible for checking / inspecting all articles at the time of collection. Any issues with the article(s) must be made known to us within 1 day from the date of collection. We are not obliged to consider any complaint(s) in respect of the articles that are made after 1 day from the date of collection. 

8. Disclaimers

  • Stains & Smells: While we strive to eliminate stains and odours, complete removal is not guaranteed due to fabric type, stain age, etc.
  • Shrinkage, Colour Loss & Damage: Some shrinkage, fading, or fabric weakening may occur, possibly due to certain fabrics not being pre-shrunk or are weak due to prolonged sun exposure. ; we disclaim liability for natural wear or inherent fabric weaknesses.
  • Alteration Tolerances: Slight discrepancies from requested fit may occur due to manual tailoring; Stitch and Steam is not liable where within reasonable tolerance.
  • We are entitled to full payment for the Services even if certain any of the aforementioned disclaimers occurs.

9. Limitation of Liability

Our maximum liability for loss or damage per article is S$150. We are not responsible for pre-existing defects, inherent fabric weaknesses, or customer misinformation.

10. Claims

To file a claim, present the original “Your clothes are ready for collection/delivery” email or invoice. If we agree to compensation, we may retain the garment regardless of its condition.

11. Personal Data & Marketing

By using our Services, you consent to our collection and use of your personal data for processing, customer service, and marketing via email, SMS, or phone.

12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Singapore law. Disputes can be resolved by the following manners:

  • You may first seek resolution directly with Stitch & Steam.
  • You may also approach the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) for mediation under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act (CPFTA), where applicable.
  • Disputes involving sums up to S$20,000 fall within the jurisdiction of the Small Claims Tribunals.
